Cox Enterprises was founded in 1898 by James M. Cox, a forward-thinking journalist and the future governor of Ohio. Today, Cox remains a family-owned company grounded by both a storied history and future-focused innovation. Our mission, ways of working, knowledge and commitment to people form a cultural fabric that is remarkably flexible, but extraordinarily strong.

Sustainability at Cox Enterprises
Driving positive environmental change — inside our company and within the communities we serve — is one of the most important things we do.
Cox Conserves, our national sustainability program, was launched in 2007 by Jim Kennedy, Chairman Emeritus and Chairman, James M. Cox Foundation. Since then, we’ve made meaningful progress in our journey to become a more sustainable company through our operations, partnerships and innovative conservation efforts.
Cox Conserves’ primary focus areas include energy conservation; water conservation; waste diversion and recycling; protecting and restoring land; and community engagement.

“At Cox Enterprises, we believe that professional, third-party validations are vitally important in supporting transparency into an organization’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance. We believe that assurances provide credibility and ways to strengthen an organization’s internal processes, methodologies, and reporting.”
